I woke up this morning, grabbed a cup of coffee and sat down in a quiet place with the Lord. The first question He asked me was... Amy, "Do you believe you're out of My will, and out of My way, or just uncomfortable?" You know, the Lord is always giving you something to ponder to change your perspective on things... You can be living in paradise on the outside, but that doesn't mean you get to take a back seat on your spiritual training! If you've said yes to God, He's got you on a fast track for development! When we're put into challenging situations for a season, it's easy to instantly assume that we've stepped out of alignment or have missed God. Now, if our peace leaves, we may want to question that, but, when God himself is coaxing us in the midst of it, saying I'm in this, trust Me, I've got a plan, I'll unveil it to you soon... even when it seems the odds are stacked against us, then you can rest assured that this is the path He wants you on. "God often hides himself in inconvenience, more than the convenient.." -Larry Randolph A lot of times we think we're in God's will, only if everything goes our way. Often times we try to fix things when we think they aren't going the way WE THINK they should. We plead with God to deliver us and often times we can't understand why He's allowing it! Tell that to Joseph...listen to the words of wisdom in this song and short video clip of Joseph! (may have to turn the volume up) Here's a good quote to remind yourself.... "Adversity oftentimes, is what brings out the gold in me." Ahhh!! You might be thinking. Wouldn't you say, that it comes down to how we look at it and what part we value the most? Wouldn't we all agree, that we're discovering we've engaged ourselves in covenant, to a God of daring adventure? God is always trying to get us to search for the gold hidden in the caverns, when we're scrambling in terror, looking for the fastest way out of the cold, black, darkness!! I remember another time when I was so frustrated talking to God about all the geographical moves and transitions John and I kept having to go through. I would say, "God, this isn't normal!! What's wrong with us!! What's going on..?!" In His gentle, yet firm wisdom He replied, "It's about the people more than your comfort right now." That shut me right up. Our journey of twist and turns kept leading us into divine appointments at strategic moments to minister into lives on our path. These moments couldn't of possibly happened any other way! God really is ordering our steps. Like Graham Cooke always says, "If you're in Christ, then so are all your circumstances." It just takes a bit of discipline to give up the reins of what we think our lives should look like. Only when we reach eternity will we see the full, complete painting He created with the footsteps of our lives. With that perspective in mind, trying to take back the reins is like trying to take the paintbrush out of a Master Painter's hand! Do you think you could really paint the picture better than Him? Hmmm...and do you see the vision for the painting like He does? We must allow God the freedom to sculpt and paint the picture He see of what He wants our lives to look like. Lets be fluid like paint, pliable, and colorful as He dips His hands into our situations. Let's be still and comfortable in our hearts as we rest upon His easal... And, let's be content with the outcome when it's totally a different design that what WE had envisioned. May we throw ourselves upon our loving Master, Creative and Just is He, and agree that surely your ways oh Lord are far better than what we can see. Yes, we will trust you! Oh, we will TRUST You, for you are divine, all knowing, and kind. Your wisdom outweighs the best in the field and only in you can we rest as we yield. And so, we will climb, climb back on your easel and position ourselves to receive what's for people. We choose to delight in the colors you mix and embrace with our hearts, the strokes you impart, for truly you are, the Master of Art. We love you Lord Jesus! There's no one like you!
