I was contemplating the thought of what it must be like to dream with God so I figured, why think about it? I'll just ask Him. “Lord,” I said, "What is dreaming with you like?" He replied, "Amy, dreaming with Me is a practice of becoming who you are. All My children are dreamers. Many just don't know it or have not allowed themselves to dream anymore...
They were told it was foolish to dream; that it wasn't reality. They were told it wasn't possible, it wasn't practical and that they should look for something possible and practical to occupy in life." God continued, "How can My children believe in me when it is for something they can merely accomplish on their own? What then is faith? Faith is like flying into the unknown. It's exciting, it's daring, and it's exploring and expanding all possibilities. It's learning to live in Me. I want My children to fly with Me. To fly they must leap into the air with childlike faith and believe in the impossible. Children always know how to believe in the impossible." God finished.
A favorite movie of children growing up is the story of Peter Pan. In the story the children dreamed of flying and flew. The only way they could fly was to remain childlike and dream. When Peter left his homeland and grew up in the 1991 movie, Hook, he lost his ability to fly. He accepted what people told him was “reality” and it kept him "grounded.”
Using the airplane as an example, what plane is ever of value when it's grounded? It is not very useful without being engaged in its designed purpose and beauty. It cannot do its job let alone serve human kind.
Many people are "grounded" and they consider it a good thing, a wise thing, a safe thing and there lies the problem. "Houston, we have a problem." But hey, let’s not focus on the problem, let's look at what's missing. Oftentimes when a plane is grounded, it is due to a maintenance alert. Something may be out of alignment and needs to be adjusted or a part needs to be replaced. Using this as an example in our lives, the Holy Spirit shows up on the job and begins to check out your instrument panel. He does a quick data run-through (of course He already knows everything but just follow this illustration with me) till He pin points the area that's alerting Him. I guess you could say that's when He begins to push your buttons. He makes an announcement over the intercom of your soul for what you need to fix. Reset your heart to your passion in Papa. Reset your vision, clear away the debris, face your fears and become childlike again to dream with Him! You were made to fly!
Do you remember how Peter Pan was able to fly again in the movie, Hook? He began to remember who he was and to remember the place he came from. He remembered his identity and the powers given him to challenge his enemy. Here is a brief description of the movie and Peter:
“Hook is a 1991 film that tells the story of Peter Banning, a middle-aged business man who returns with his family to London, and the orphanage where he was raised. While there, his children are kidnapped and a note is left signed by "J. Hook, Captain". Wendy, the woman who raised Peter, tells him that the Peter Pan stories are true, and that he, Peter Banning is actually the boy who said he would never grow up. Peter must return to Neverland and find his forgotten childhood in order to save his family.”
Note, "in order to save his family... There is always more than one person at stake here, when we loose who we are.
Many of us have forgotten where we came from, our beloved home country called heaven. We've forgotten who we are and who our Daddy is. We've grown up! It's time to rediscover the above and challenge the lies of the safety and the security of being "grounded." We need to check our instruments and identify our talents. Look in the mirror past the outer flesh. Find the child inside of you again and begin to dream. Find out who you truly are, and then begin to align yourself with that identity and take action. Papa's hand is waiting for yours to take you on the adventure of a life time, into the impossible and right up where you belong, sky high into the direction of your destiny and towards the ones you are called to inspire!
