“Don’t believe anything that’s not in the Bible?!” - John Meyer

​​ When some well-meaning Christian says things like, “Don’t believe anything that’s not in the Bible!!!” And “If it’s not in the Bible then it’s demonic!!!” Or “Just because someone says something is from God but it’s not in the written Bible don’t believe them!!!”

Ok, I know we do mean well sometimes when we say things like this, but I can tell you from experience that much of that is embedded in fear. Think about how silly that sounds to the disciples before they even wrote their letters, they were still enjoying their encounter with Jesus. Or, how about any pre believer. Think about how fearful that sounds to someone who has spoken a truth but you can’t necessarily wrap a scripture and verse around it. Think about Steve Jobs or Elon Musk saying something like, “Hey humanity, I’ve uncovered a new truth, it’s called an iPhone and a Tesla!” Then, a well-meaning Christian comes along and shouts, “Where’s that in the Bible guys???” I know this sounds ridiculous, but if you’ve ever been in certain religious circles you know it is 100% true.

Suggestion? Chill out and get real discernment through unconditional love. It will cause you to grow exponentially with God. #Paddlesup
